Triple Digit Speeding Violation Results in Arrest for Michigan Man

Steuben County, IN - A Coldwater, Michigan man has been arrested on multiple charges following an incident Saturday morning in Indiana’s Steuben County.

According to a report from the Indiana State Police, Trooper Ben Walker was patrolling on Interstate 69 in the area of the 340 mile marker south of the Ashley/Hamilton exit in Steuben County, where he observed a passenger car traveling at 110 mph. After nearly eight miles to catch up with the vehicle, Trooper Walker observed continued erratic driving behavior.

Reports indicate the vehicle swerved from lane to lane, ran off the roadway, slowing down and speeding up with speeds ranging from 74 mph to 112 mph. Trooper Walker was able to stop the driver, identified as Nicholas Sajecki, age 26 of Coldwater (MI). He was stopped near the Lake James exit on I-69 without incident.


Upon initial contact with Sajecki, Trooper Walker observed signs of suspected alcohol impairment. After a roadside investigation, Sajecki was transported to the Steuben County Jail for further testing.

According to authorities, the suspect “remained less than cooperative”, and was placed under arrest for several alcohol and other related offenses (Operating While Intoxicated - Level 6 Felony, Operating While Intoxicated - Class A Misdemeanor, Operating While Intoxicated - C Misdemeanor, Operating While Suspended - A Misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving - C Misdemeanor).

The suspect was incarcerated at the Steuben County jail where he remains pending an initial hearing on the matter.
