Waterloo Town Marshal Discusses Positives of Body Cam Use
Wednesday, May 20, 2020

Waterloo Town Marshal Jay Oberholtzer has used video in police investigations for a quarter century and he is sold on the value of body cams. This past week-end, the small marshal's department in DeKalb County employed a body cam while responding to a semi-truck crashing into a home.

In an interview with WPTA-TV in Fort Wayne, Oberholtzer showed the recording from the officer's body camera that was on when he entered the home to look for people potentially injured, and discussed the benefits of wearing a body camera during other sorts of investigations.

The Waterloo Marshal's Department has used body cams for years, and other area agencies are looking at adopting or expanding the use of them as well.
