Overnight and early morning showers and thunderstorms across the tri-state region will continue for much of the day before tapering off this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to continue to fall for much of the day today with high temperatures remaining in the low 80s before making way for a return of warmer temperatures for the weekend. Sunny skies are expected to return along with hot temperatures for Friday and Saturday with highs expected in the high 80s and low 90s.

While the weekend appears to be mostly dry, a chance of showers does return to the forecast by the end of the weekend, and in the early part of next work week.
