Crouch Explains Holcomb's Reasoning For Mask Mandate WLKI
Thursday, July 23, 2020

Many questions have arisen from residents of the Hoosier state in regards to why Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced on Wednesday the move for the state to move towards the direction that other states that have been more effected by COVID-19 have done in the mandating masks to be worn in public both indoor public venues, but outdoor public places of large groups as well.

Lieutenant Governor of Indiana, Suzanne Crouch explained Holcomb's reasoning by saying, "Governor Holcomb is taking this very step because he does not want Indiana to become the next Florida, or Texas where things have to shut down. We do not want to go backwards, we do not want to shut down our economy and so we need to make sure that Hoosiers are healthy and safe, that they social distance and wear their mask."

Crouch did say that she understands everyone's concerns in regards to the new mandate, and empathized that the major issue within most Hoosiers is the level of uncertainty the on-going pandemic has brought.
