ANGOLA, IN - Sixty-three teams enjoyed sunny skies and perfect weather for golf at Trine University's 30th annual Alumni and Friends Golf Outing that was recently held.

With the high temperature around 80 degrees at Zollner Golf Course, the event raised nearly $82,000 for scholarships supporting Trine University students.

"We are grateful for those who continue to generously support Trine students, many of whom are facing financial challenges," said Lisa Maxwell-Frieden, J.D., vice president for alumni and development. "It was a wonderful day of golf, and a great opportunity to help deserving students."

First place went to a team of alumni from Trine's Kappa Sigma fraternity participating in the annual Sig Cup competition: Shawn Floyd, a 2009 management alumnus; Alex Lorencz, a 2010 golf management alumnus; Jason Paff, a 2011 mechanical engineering alumnus; and Noah Warren, a 2007 golf management alumnus.

A team from the First Federal Savings Bank of Angola, made up of Scott Gruner, a 1998 accounting alumnus, Mason Gruner, Amy Ross and Jody Noll, finished second. Third place went to the alumni team of Brian Harmon, a 2011 design engineering technology alumnus; Brent Perry, a 2007 golf management alumnus; and Danny Coppolla a 2013 design engineering technology alumnus.

The annual golf outing benefits the Trine Fund for student scholarships, which enables students to earn a degree at Trine. The 2021 outing is scheduled for Friday, August 6.
