LANSING – The State of Michigan will allow for more activities to resume.
During Wednesday's media update, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that indoor fitness activities, such as group exercise classes and non contact sports could resume as of Saturday, January 16. This announcement was a result of an update to the epidemic order from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which was extended from January 16 to January 31. It was originally issued on November 18.
Whitmer says the re-opening was a cautious step, because some numbers such as overall case rates and positivity rates, had begun to plateau or increase slightly in the last few days.
The Associated Press also announced Wednesday that the Whitmer Administration would allow for indoor dining to resume as of February 1, following a social media post from the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association. The post says this was still a working plan, while the final decision would depend on numbers in the State staying low.
