ANGOLA, IN – A suspect was in police custody following a robbery earlier this week at an Angola restaurant Wednesday.

According to a news release issued by the Angola Police Department Thursday afternoon, authorities were contacted shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday about a robbery that occurred at Wings Etc Grill & Pub (located at 309 North. Wayne Street).

Reports indicate a male suspect entered the restaurant and demanded an employee to pull money from a cash register. The suspect did not show a weapon, but investigators say he had his hand in his sweatshirt as if he were holding a firearm.

After unsuccessfully opening the register, the suspect forced the employee to give him cash from a safe located in the manager’s office. The suspect then fled with an unspecified amount of cash.

With help from witnesses who spotted the suspect enter a nearby residence, police were able to make an arrest.

Authorities recovered the stolen cash, along with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Angola City Police identified the individual as Nicholas Daniel Jordan, age 32 of Corunna, Indiana.

Jordan was charged with robbery, additional charges are likely. Jordan was granted a request to be released through the pretrial services program, which allows defendants in criminal cases to be released on their own recognizance.

Jordan faces up to 6 years in prison if convicted of the robbery in Angola. His trial is scheduled for September 16 in Steuben Superior Court.
