Indiana BMV Adding ASL, 4 other Languages for Written Test
By: Sheila McCrea - Saturday, March 27, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A new service offered by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles was created so those who communicate through American Sign Language would have an experience no different than anyone else.

In the past, those who may be deaf or hard of hearing, had to make an advanced appointment with the BMV, so the BMV could make a translator available.

American Sign Language, the first of five new languages, will be available March 29th.

Four additional languages will also be added: Hindi, Croatian, Serbian, and Tagalog. They will be added in the coming months as translations and peer reviews are completed.
