Carra Ready For Run At U.S. House
By: Mike Stiles - Thursday, April 8, 2021

THREE RIVERS – Steve Carra is going to challenge incumbent Fred Upton for the Republican nomination to run for the 6th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Carra, a Three Rivers Republican, made the announcement Tuesday night during an event in Three Rivers. Carra was elected in November 2020 to be the 59th District State Representative in Lansing. Upton was reelected in November to the U.S House, a position he has held since 1986.

During a question and answer period, Carra was asked by WBET with just only three months in office as a State Representative, what this announcement could mean to his support base and for his credibility. Carra says he's lived in Southwest Michigan his whole life. He has voted well in representing the 59th District and has stayed true to his values. He has explained all of his votes on Facebook and has heard nothing but good things from the people he represents.

WBET also asked Carra if he would be able to balance his duties in Lansing with running a campaign. Carra says he knocked on over 19,000 doors in his last campaign. He says he can go from 7 AM until 10 PM and it will take someone like that to win this campaign and he can do it no problem.
