Unfinished Work From Last Summer Will Continue on I-69 This Week in Branch County
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, April 13, 2021

BRANCH COUNTY, MI - The Michigan Department of Transportation is completing work on 12 miles of I-69 in Branch County.

Work has started this week between Girard and Otis roads, and three bridges over Fenn, State and Newton roads. The road work is the end of a $7.7 million project started in 2020.

Road crews will include pavement and joint repairs, resurfacing, crack sealing and drainage improvements on I-69. This will limit load size on the northbound side to 12 feet maximum from Copeland road to the Marshall road interchange at Tekonsha. The limit on the southbound side will be limited to loads no more than 10 feet wide.

Work will also mean one lane will be closed where work is underway. One lane of I-69 will remain open in each direction.

This comes as South Angola Road will be closed between Central Road and Paradine Road for bridge repair beginning in June with I-69 as one of the detours.

MDOT says the estimated end date for the Branch County work on I-69 is Aug. 27.
