CONSTANTINE – The Village of Constantine has a new Police Chief.

During Tuesday's meeting, the Constantine Village Council voted to hire Dan Thayer and offer him a two year contract. Village Manager Mark Honeysett, Village Trustee Richard Larrance and Police Secretary Terri Papke conducted interviews with the candidates for the job.

Honeysett has served as Village Manager and Police Chief for several years. He will step away from the Police Chief duties as soon as Thayer signs his contract. Thayer retired after 25 years as a trooper with the Michigan State Police. He has been a part-time officer with Constantine.
