Williams County, OH – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a minor injury train crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in Williams County.

Authorities say a 73 year old man from Pioneer was operating a 2013 Ford F150 southbound on County Road 15 north of County Road M when he proceeded to drive across a set of railroad tracks. Upon doing so, he was struck by a railcar being pushed by a Norfolk Southern train engine.

The man was treated on scene for minor injuries. Investigators say no railroad employees were injured during the incident.

Reports indicate the railroad crossing warning lights and gates were found to be in proper working order at the time of the crash.

Alcohol and drug impairment were not suspected as factors in the crash. The driver of the car was reportedly wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
