FORT WAYNE – The Angola American Legion Post 31 is sponsoring a trip to the Fort Wayne Vietnam Memorial Wall on Saturday, August 6.

The trip is free for veterans and their guests.

The charter buses depart from the Angola American Legion Post 31 located at 1760 W Maumee St. at 10 a.m.

A complimentary breakfast will be served by the Angola American Legion Post 31 from 7-9 a.m.

The trip was put together by local Angola veteran and retired Marine Sergeant Alex Dobson.

“I wanted to do something special trip for all the Vietnam area veterans,” said Dobson. "If you want to go and you've never had the opportunity now's the opportunity."

Dobson did two combat tours between 2005-2009. He is currently the Steuben County Veteran Service Officer at the Steuben County Veteran’s Services Office.

The Visit Fort Wayne website states, “The Vietnam Wall is a 360 ft, 80% replica of the original Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C., now permanently displayed here in Fort Wayne, Indiana for all to see.

The wall is a lasting tribute to those that served and were killed in that conflict – their names are etched on this black wall as far as the eye can see.”

The buses’ capacity for the trip is around 120 people. Signing up sooner rather than later is highly requested.

If you are interested in being a part of the trip contact the Angola American Legion Post 31 at 665-3363.
