By: Sheila McCrea - Friday, October 7, 2022

SHIPSHEWANA, IN - What started as a small livestock sale of six pigs, seven cows and several head of young cattle at the home of George Curtis in 1922, has grown to a popular attraction in the Midwest drawing people from all over the United States and Canada.

This year, Shipshewana Trading Place turns 100 and continues their celebration this Fall with an open house on October 12, 2022, alongside their year-round, weekly livestock & antique sales.

“The day is being planned to celebrate not only our tenure as a local icon in Shipshewana, Indiana, but to celebrate what makes us truly famous... our buyers, sellers, customers, shoppers, guests, vendors, staff and community!” stated Keith Lambright, Owner & Operator of Shipshewana Trading Place Auction.

The open house will take place on Wednesday, known around there as “Auction Day”. This special event will begin to wrap up their year-long celebration of a “Century of Treasure Hunting” in Indiana's Amish Country.
