Today is Veterans Day, a National holiday in the United States (November 11) honoring veterans of the armed forces and those killed in the country's wars.
The observance originated in 1919 on the first anniversary of the 1918 armistice that ended World War I and was known as Armistice Day.
State and federal office are closed today.
Many community organizations and schools are holding special programs to honor and celebrate the service of all US military veterans. Many of them who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their life for our country’s freedom.
