Firearm Hunting Season Starts Saturday In Indiana
Saturday, November 12, 2022

It’s one of the busiest times for hunting and fishing stores this time of year.

Hoosier deer hunters will take to the woods today, Saturday, November 12th, for the start of firearm season.

A national firearm report states the percentage of hunting injuries is low.

While those incidents are rare, officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says one of the most common hunting-related injuries is tree stand accidents — when a hunter falls from elevated equipment secured to a tree. The Indiana DNR reports 20 to 30 every year.

While the DNR says hunting is a healthy way to help manage the deer population, they also remind hunters to take each and every measure to stay safe.
