FORT WAYNE, IN – A construction worker was killed Monday morning after a construction vehicle backed over him.

Authorities in Fort Wayne were called to the 3400 block of Wells Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. for a fatal motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, first units on the scene found a deceased adult male.

The man had reportedly been on his phone and didn't notice a construction vehicle backing up, which ran over him.

The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with officers in the investigation.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity, as well as cause and manner of death after next of kin have been notified.
