Severe Weather Preparedness Week
By: Sheila McCrea - Monday, March 13, 2023

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Governor Eric J. Holcomb has proclaimed this week (March 12–18) as Severe Weather Preparedness Week.

Each year, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security collaborates with the National Weather Service during Severe Weather Preparedness Week to remind and educate Hoosiers about seasonal severe weather threats and how to effectively prepare for them.

Indiana is no stranger to severe weather, from tornadoes to thunderstorms and everything in between. With proper preparation and knowledge, you can stay safe no matter what comes your way.

At around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service will issue a test tornado warning alert, which will be shared through most notification systems, including the statewide Emergency Alert System.

Wherever you are at the time, practice your tornado safety plan.

Take the time to prepare yourself, your family, and this around you.
