FREMONT - The Fremont Town Council approved the hiring of Orland Town Marshall Kenny Steele as a part-time officer for Fremont.
Fremont Town Marshal Joe Patterson requested the council's approval during their monthly Fremont City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 15.
Marshal Patterson noted Marshall Steele has been the town Marshal of Orland since 2017 and is more than experienced and qualified to be an officer for Fremont.
The Fremont City Council approved the hiring unanimously.
A fourth full-time officer is also expected to be hired within the next month for Fremont after a new state law allowing up to six officers.
