LAKE JAMES - A juvenile on a paddleboard was struck by a motorboat on Saturday, September 3.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources issued a press release on Tuesday, September 5 regarding the investigation of a boating accident that took place on Lake James at approximately 8:25 p.m.
Reports state Kevin Crist, 46 of Fremont was operating his boat when he collided with a 13-year-old on a paddleboard near a dock in the area of Lane 585.
The collision ejected the juvenile into the water resulting in minor injuries.
Crist displayed signs of impairment was was arrested for operating a motorboat while intoxicated and dangerous operation of a motorboat, both class C misdemeanors.
Indiana Conservation Officers said they want to, "remind the public to always designate a sober operator and always keep a proper lookout while operating a motorboat on Indiana waterways."
