(LAGRANGE) – A family has been selected to partner with LaGrange County Habitat For Humanity to build their 35tha home.

LaGrange County Habitat Executive Director John Sisson says the Board of Directors has selected MaKenna Swihart and her three children to be the recipients of the new house. Swihart must contribute sweat equity hours towards the build, along with taking home ownership and financial education classes, which are done to help ensure long term success as a homeowner.

Ground was broken on the project in February. The construction of the house is a collaborative effort between LaGrange County Habitat For Humanity and the Building Trades Program at Lakeland High School.

The project won’t be finished before the end of the 2024-2025 school year. LaGrange Habitat For Humanity is asking for volunteers to help with finishing both interior and exterior work like painting and landscaping.

If you wish to volunteer, you can call the LaGrange County Habitat For Humanity Office at 260-463-8519.
