Northeast Indiana jobless rates went down in April from the previous month, but are still slightly higher than they were a year ago at this time.
LaGrange County fell from 3.1 percent in March to 2.4 percent in April. One year ago it was 2.1 percent.
Elkhart County went from 3.2 to 2.6 percent. DeKalb County from 3.1 to 2.4 percent. Steuben County from 3 percent to 2.4 percent. Noble County from 3.4 to 2.6 percent.
Northeast Indiana’s grasp on the lowest rates among the state’s 92 counties is slipping. Steuben County now ranks 82nd, LaGrange County 80th, DeKalb 76th, Noble 67th and Elkhart 65th.
