Ohio Man Arrested after Stealing Emergency Vehicle

DEKALB COUNTY, IN - An Ohio man has been arrested in DeKalb County after he allegedly stole an emergency vehicle from Reading, Michigan.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was notified just before 11 p.m. on Saturday of a stolen Ford Explorer belonging the Reading Emergency Unit out of Michigan. The vehicle was reportedly full of narcotics.

The stolen vehicle was located within DeKalb County limits driving at high speed along southbound I-69.

Once located, the driver failed to stop and lead officers on a chase. Officers were able to successfully deploy the spike strips that then deflated the two passenger side tires.

The driver was identified as, Thomas J. McGuire, of Ohio. He was taken into police custody and booked on felony resisting law enforcement and theft charges.
