Staton Named as LaGrange County’s Heart of Gold Volunteer

LAGRANGE, IN - A lifelong resident of LaGrange County has been honored as one of the areas top volunteers.

The LaGrange County Community Foundation has awarded Shanan Staton as this year’s “Heart of Gold” Volunteer. Staton is known by her family, friends, and colleagues as a dedicated volunteer for numerous organizations that include the Community Harvest Food Bank, Stroh Little League, Reason 4 Hope, which are all among a long list of organizations she serves.

Staton is employed as an instructional assistant at Prairie Heights Community Schools where she also serves as the middle school student council advisor. She has coordinated countless volunteer opportunities for students and staff, as well as volunteering at many athletic events for the corporation.

After being named this year‘s recipient of a heart of gold, Staton was quick to praise the work of the other 8 nominees.

If you are looking to find a a way to give or serve others, Staton says “there is no wrong way to give or serve”.
