By: Mike Stiles - Wednesday, September 1, 2021

COLDWATER – Five individuals have been interviewed for the position of Branch County 911 Director.

Last week, the Branch County Commission conducted the interviews via Zoom. The five finalists are Debbie Spencer, John Shearman, Matt Fosdick, Ryan Fillmore and Robert Swick. Fosdick is the IT Director for Branch County. Spencer served as a dispatcher and supervisor in Kalamazoo for 28 years. Shearman started off as an EMT after graduating high school, then served as a firefighter and eventually went into administration, serving all over the United States.

Fillmore is a supervisor with St. Joseph County 911, and also served as a dispatcher with Branch County for 14 years prior to going to St. Joseph County. Swick retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections. The Branch County 911 Director's position has been open since November 2020 when Kurt Spalding retired.

Branch County Commissioners say they want to choose their new 911 Director sometime in the next two weeks.
