ASHLEY — An Ashley business that makes asphalt emulsion and de-icing agents was damaged during a weekend fire.

Multiple fire crews were called to a reported fire at K-Tech Specialty Coatings, located at 111 West Garfield Street, Sunday morning. Upon arrival first units on the scene found heavy smoke bellowing from the 40 foot by 80 foot building and flames showing through the north side the facility.

The fire was reportedly contained to one building on the property. Total damage is estimated at $200-thousand dollars.

Firefighters from at least 15 departments battled the blaze. One firefighter suffered a chest injury, but was treated and released from an area hospital.

There were no civilian injuries.

Firefighters had the situation under control by 9:37 a.m. Sunday, but remained at the scene until 5 p.m.
