DEKALB COUNTY, IN – Authorities say a woman who was driving under the influence of alcohol was hospitalized after she crashed her car in rural Dekalb County Monday.

According to a report from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, identified as Amanda Faulker, age 41 of Garrett, was driving a car east on County Road 36 when she ran off the side of the road and into a ditch. She reportedly managed to get the car back onto the road, but spun into the westbound lane, hit the shoulder, and rolled onto the passenger side.

Faulker refused EMS treatment at the scene; however, she was taken to the hospital for back pain.

Investigators have determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
