Two Weekend Crashes In Cass County’s Milton Township

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called out to two crashes over the weekend that happened in Milton Township.

At 7:40 PM Friday, deputies were called to U.S. 12 and Conrad Road for a personal injury crash. They determined that 55 year old James Harker Jr. of Osceola, Indiana fell asleep behind the wheel and ran off the road, striking a large tree.

Harker suffered non life threatening injuries and was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, and assisting were the Ontwa Township Police and the SMCAS Ambulance.

Then, just before 10 PM Saturday, deputies were sent to a two vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Redfield Street and Kline Road.

Deputies say 67 year old Mary Corbett of Virginia was driving south on Kline Road and crossed Redfield Street, failing to check for oncoming traffic. She struck a westbound automobile, driven by 22 year out Briana Parker-Potucek.

Corbett was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injures. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts.

The Michigan State Police, Edwardsburg Fire Department and Edwardsburg Ambulance all assisted at the scene.

Both crashes are still under investigation.
