(COLDWATER) - National Weather Service officials in Northern Indiana have now confirmed that the tornado that touched down south of Coldwater on April 15th was an EF-1 storm.
The tornado occurred between 1:04 a.m. and 1:07 a.m., with estimated peak winds of 90 miles per hour.
Survey teams say the tornado traveled 2.59 miles with a maximum width of 100 yards. It began near Sanford and Fenn roads, moved southeast across Interstate 69, and lifted near South Wood Road.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
Damage survey findings show debris from a barn was thrown east near the touchdown point, along with minor damage to solar panels at a nearby solar farm. As the tornado continued, it damaged a pole barn near the interstate and tore the roof off a garage near Dubendorf and Quimby roads.
Crews also documented numerous downed trees and destroyed vinyl fencing around a pool before the storm struck another pole barn on South Wood Road, scattering debris into a nearby field.
The Branch County tornado was one of nine confirmed across Michigan during severe weather that moved through late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
