(BUTLER) - An Auburn man is facing multiple charges after a two-vehicle crash reported just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday south of Butler, according to Indiana State Police.

Police say Austin Brummett, 30, was arrested on charges including possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony; altered gun identification, a Level 5 felony; unlawful carrying of a handgun with a prior conviction within 15 years, a Level 5 felony; possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.

Troopers responded to the crash at County Road 40 and State Road 1. The initial investigation indicates a gray Ford Bronco, driven by Megan Freudenberger, 47, of Auburn, had stopped at a stop sign on County Road 40 when it was struck from behind by a brown 2019 GMC Acadia driven by Brummett.

Both drivers reported minor injuries. Freudenberger was evaluated at a local hospital but was not transported by ambulance. Brummett was taken by ambulance to a hospital for further evaluation.

During the investigation, officers say Brummett was suspected of driving while intoxicated. Alcohol containers and a handgun were found inside the vehicle he was driving.

Indiana State Police was assisted by the Butler Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Parkview EMS, Butler Fire Department, Jeff's Towing and Tony's Towing.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
