(FORT WAYNE) – Honor Flight Northeast Indiana has announced a last-minute location change for Wednesday morning’s send-off for veterans traveling to Washington, D.C.

Honor Flight is the program that transports veterans to the nation’s capital to visit the memorials built in their honor.

Organizers say the #56 Alan Fox Tribute Flight send-off can no longer be held at the 122nd Fighter Wing because of mission requirements.

Instead, veterans and guardians will now gather at Waynedale American Legion Post 241 at 7605 Bluffton Road.

Participants are asked to arrive no later than 5:15 a.m. Wednesday and are encouraged to carpool if possible.

Those staying at the hotel for the trip will not be affected, and shuttle transportation will still be provided.

Veterans and guardians will then travel by charter bus to Fort Wayne International Airport before departing for Washington.

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana says 87 veterans are expected to take part in the trip.

The organization also says the public is invited to attend the welcome home celebration Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. at Fort Wayne International Airport.
