Police Immunity Rollback Bill Clarified By U.S. Senator Braun
Thursday, July 16, 2020

Confusion and hostility was displayed following a proposed bill that would’ve rolled back some of the qualified immunity provisions for police that had been proposed by Republican Indiana US Senator, Mike Braun was officially voted down.

Following the bill's end, many questions were left unanswered including the specifics in what the bill was trying to target, and Braun explained why...

Braun said, "It's a very complicated subject, all of these problems and all the craziness has been happening in large cities run by Democrats and the governance there as well as law enforcement in the unions... All of that is happening in places that this has been happening for decades, and now they want to indite police and law enforcement across the board."

Senator Braun had proposed a bill that would have removed certain protections against lawsuits alleging that they violated a plaintiff’s rights, something that drew major criticism from many. Something that Braun says was in some cases misconstrued. "You cannot suit up in law enforcement without protection. My goal was to be in the conversation, and sometimes in the media it becomes a blur," Braun reiterated.

Braun was also asked about support to not only police across the country, but right in Northern Indiana as well and brought up how disheartening it was that a question of such merit was even brought up. "I come from the place the represents law and order, and law enforcement, places that can peacefully live and prosper."

Braun went on to further emphasize his frustration towards continued over emphasis on the impeachment talks of the President, as well as the heavy division right now in Government on what the next steps in combating COVID-19 should be.
