ELKHART - Authorities in Elkhart are investigating an attack that happened in the parking lot of the Walmart on County Road 6 Tuesday morning.
Elkhart City Police responded to the scene around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a knife attack.
Reports indicate the suspect went into the store, took a machete and concealed it in his backpack.
Upon leaving the store, he called an employee over to him while in the parking lot. When the employee reportedly approached the suspect, the man attacked the employee with the machete.
After the attack, the suspect fled the store on a bicycle.
Elkhart Police, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office and the K9 Unit searched for the suspect.
The suspect was located and taken into custody.
The 30-year old employee suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Law-enforcement investigators recovered the machete from underneath a car in the parking lot of Walmart.
