DEKALB COUNTY, IN — The DeKalb County Commissioners have decided to stop pursuing a $250 tax for buggy plates.

During this weeks board meeting, commissioners decided to forgo the measure because they say “a tax at $250” on buggy plates “doesn’t fix the issue and wouldn’t be enough to repair roads.” Officials say moving forward with a buggy plate tax would be “considered to be more trouble than it’s worth” to commissioners.

Unlike most counties in Northeastern Indiana (Allen, Whitley, Steuben, Noble, LaGrange, and Adams) who all have ordinances to collect money off of buggies, DeKalb will not.
