A round of widespread rain moves through near daybreak on Monday, then a line of showers and possibly a few severe storms could develop late Monday morning and into the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center with the National Weather Service has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for severe weather on Monday. The main concern will be damaging winds along with locally heavy rain, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
Wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph will be common outside any thunderstorms through this evening.
Although severe weather is most common in the summer months, it is not unusual to have Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued in the winter months too! Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings and stay weather aware!
By Monday afternoon, minor flooding on area rivers and streams , as well as and ponding of water in low-lying areas are possible.
