ANGOLA, IN - An Angola man is facing charges after firing a weapon in a residential area within the city of Angola.
Late Friday afternoon, just before 3:30 p.m., Angola City Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Williams Street regarding an unknown person firing a weapon. The shots reportedly came near the back patio area of the Elliott Manor Apartments.
While attempting to locate the suspect, officers began quickly clearing the building and nearby areas for the safety of tenants. At
approximately 3:36 pm, officers had the suspect detained, placed into custody. The suspect has been identified as by authorities as Harold Powell, age 26, from Angola.
Officers confirmed there were no injuries sustained by any individuals during this incident.
Powell was taken to the Angola Police Department where he was interviewed, and then transported
to the Steuben County jail without incident.
Powell was charged with a Level 5 Felony Intimidation and a Level 5 Felony Criminal Recklessness.
The arrest made is a mere allegation, and the defendant has the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
