Hamilton School Board Reorganizes, Renews Leadership for 2026

(HAMILTON) - The Hamilton Community Schools Board of Trustees reorganized Monday night, re-electing its current leadership and approving several financial and personnel items.

Scott Lucas will continue as board president, with Stacy Shull re-elected vice president and April Holden returning as secretary. Other board members include Brandy DePriest and Julie Friend.

Brittany Taylor was retained as school corporation treasurer, with Claire Smith serving as deputy treasurer. The board will also continue to act as the district's finance committee.

Board members received several outside appointments, including Friend as the district's delegate to the Indiana School Boards Association and DePriest to the Hamilton Park Board. Lucas will represent the district on the Hamilton Redevelopment Committee.

The board approved a $77,260 property insurance renewal with EMC Insurance and authorized the purchase of a new school bus for $193,835 from Kerlin Bus Sales.

In other action, the board hired Robin Burkhart as a custodian and accepted community donations totaling $3,000 to support Little Marines Daycare supplies and outstanding school lunch accounts.

Taylor reported transfers totaling more than $414,000 into the district's rainy day fund, which now stands at approximately $2.5 million. She also reported the district earned about $400,000 in interest income during 2025.
