(KENDALLVILLE) - A Kendallville native is headed to Miami to watch Indiana University compete in the College Football National Championship after winning free tickets during a surprise moment on The Pat McAfee Show.

21 Alive reports that, Caden Anderson, a Kendallville native and Franklin College student, found out he won the tickets while working a part-time job washing cars at a local dealership. Anderson said he had The Pat McAfee Show playing in the background when he suddenly heard his name mentioned on air.

Anderson, a lifelong Indianapolis Colts fan, has long followed former Colts punter Pat McAfee and regularly watches the show on ESPN. McAfee announced the win live, congratulating Anderson by his social media handle, @ColtsFanCaden56.

Anderson has invited his best friend to join him at the championship game, where Indiana University will face the University of Miami. He said both have closely followed IU football's dramatic turnaround this season.

Championship tickets have been selling for several thousand dollars, with some listings topping $20,000. Anderson said selling the tickets was never an option, calling the trip a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

He is scheduled to fly to Miami on Sunday and said his loyalty remains firmly with the Hoosiers.
