(ROME CITY) - Motorists on the north side of Rome City will face traffic disruptions beginning Monday as bridge construction reduces travel to a single lane, city officials said.

The work will force traffic into one lane, with a temporary signal controlling alternating northbound and southbound movement through the construction zone. The project is expected to slow traffic and may cause brief delays, particularly during peak travel times.

Orange Township Fire Chief Gene Landers urged drivers to use caution and patience while traveling through the area, noting the potential impact on emergency response.

"Traffic delays can be frustrating, but it's critical that drivers stay alert and calm, especially when emergency vehicles need to pass through the construction zone," Landers said. "Driver awareness plays a major role in keeping everyone safe."

The Orange Township Fire Department anticipates emergency response delays of roughly 40 seconds to one minute while navigating the restricted area. Officials said contingency plans are in place to minimize the impact and maintain emergency services.

Drivers are advised to slow down, obey posted signs, remain alert for emergency vehicles, and allow extra travel time when passing through the area.
