(FORT WAYNE) - A Fort Wayne man found with more than two pounds of fentanyl in his vehicle has been sentenced to nearly 16 years in federal prison.

A judge in U.S. District Court sentenced 39-year-old Michael Orvas Beers to 190 months behind bars. Court records show Beers also faces two separate pending drug cases in Allen and Steuben counties that could add more prison time.

Police found Beers in October 2024 passed out in a parked car with the engine running at a gas station. Investigators say a search of the vehicle uncovered multiple bags of fentanyl, about 10 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale that later tested positive for cocaine.

Court documents state Beers admitted to purchasing a kilogram of drugs for $25,000.

In November 2025, Beers pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say convictions in the remaining cases could add between two and 18 more years to Beers' total sentence.
