(ANGOLA ) - A new recreational space is now available to the public in Angola, as the City's Parks and Recreation Department announces the soft opening of Sheets Family Park. The park, which includes a variety of amenities, is now open for visitors to explore and enjoy, marking the first phase of its official debut.
The park features an inclusive playground, pickleball courts, and open green spaces designed to encourage recreation, community engagement, and outdoor activities for all ages. With a focus on accessibility, the park is designed to be a space where children, adults, and seniors can connect with each other and enjoy the outdoors together.
Sheets Family Park is the result of years of collaboration and community involvement, with support from local businesses, families, donors, civic organizations, and volunteers. The park was created to serve as a welcoming and inclusive space for the entire community of Angola and Steuben County.
"This is a special moment for the community," said Matt Hanna, Parks and Recreation Superintendent. "Sheets Family Park was intentionally designed with inclusivity in mind, so that everyone--regardless of age or ability--can enjoy it. It's a place for families, neighbors, and friends to gather, and it represents what can happen when a community works together toward a common goal."
Although the park is open, the soft launch comes with some temporary adjustments. Restrooms have been winterized for the season, but two portable restrooms are available on-site. Visitors will also notice that some landscaping and finishing touches are still in progress, with work slated to continue through the coming months.
What's Open Now:
- Inclusive playground

What's Coming:
- Spring 2026: A splash pad and full grand opening celebration are planned for the spring of 2026, with the date to be announced closer to the event.
The City of Angola will manage and oversee all operations and maintenance for the park moving forward, ensuring that it remains a valuable asset to the community for years to come.
"We can't wait for the full grand opening in 2026, and we're hopeful that Sheets Family Park will become a place where people create lasting memories," Hanna said.
