(PORTAGE) - Medical technology company Stryker Corporation says it is dealing with a cyberattack with links to Iran that disrupted parts of its global computer network.

The Portage-based company reported a network disruption affecting its Microsoft systems and says internal IT teams are working to determine the full impact.

Company officials say there is no indication of ransomware or malware, and they believe the incident has been contained.

At least one employee reported seeing a message from a hacker group known as Handala, which has been linked to Iran.

The group claimed responsibility online, saying the attack was retaliation connected to international conflicts and cyber activity targeting what it called the "Axis of Resistance."

The hackers also claimed they wiped 200,000 systems and devices and accessed 50 terabytes of data, though those claims have not been independently confirmed.

Stryker says its teams continue working to assess the situation and restore systems as needed.
