(ANGOLA) - Steuben County's longtime Plan and Building Director, Clinton "Clint" Knauer, is jailed after detectives arrested him Tuesday on an active warrant tied to an alleged altercation at the Steuben County Community Center.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says the arrest stems from a March 27th physical confrontation involving Knauer and another person inside the county facility on South Wayne Street.

Knauer, 53, was taken into custody without incident around 11:30 Tuesday morning.

He was booked into the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges of Class B misdemeanor battery, Level 6 felony criminal confinement, and Level 6 felony official misconduct.

Knauer remains held on a $3,000 bond.

County records identify Knauer as the county's Plan and Building Director, a role he has held for years.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
