(ALTOONA, PA) - Convenience store chain Sheetz says it plans to bring 100 new stores to Indiana over the next 10 years as part of a nearly $1 billion investment in the state.

The company says the first Indiana locations are expected to open in the Indianapolis area next year, though specific sites and opening dates have not yet been released.

Sheetz says the Indiana expansion is part of its broader Midwest growth strategy and is expected to create more than 3,000 long-term jobs statewide.

As part of the announcement, the Pennsylvania-based chain also donated $25,000 to Special Olympics Indiana, calling it the first step in building a long-term partnership in communities where the company operates.

Sheetz currently operates more than 830 locations across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Michigan.

Known for combining gas service with made-to-order food, the chain's arrival sets up a major new player in Indiana's convenience store market over the next decade.
