(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission is continuing a series of public listening sessions across the state, giving Hoosiers a chance to weigh in on rising utility costs and future rate concerns.

The latest session was held Thursday at Noblesville City Hall, where residents were invited to speak directly with regulators about the impact of higher electric, gas and utility bills.

IURC Chairman Andy Zay said the goal is to help shape the commission's long-term approach to balancing affordability, economic growth and the need to modernize aging utility infrastructure.

State officials are encouraging anyone attending future sessions to bring a recent utility bill, which can help frame specific concerns over rate increases and usage charges.

Three more listening sessions are planned this month:

  • April 13 -- Gary Public Library
  • April 20 -- Ivy Tech Conference Center in Indianapolis
  • April 22 -- Terre Haute City Hall

Residents who cannot attend in person can also submit comments directly to the commission by email.

The listening tour comes as utility affordability remains a growing issue for households across Indiana, particularly amid continued infrastructure investment and higher energy demand.
