(KINDERHOOK TOWNSHIP) - Two people were were hurt after their Corvette struck a deer and crashed into a ditch in Branch County.

Deputies say the single-vehicle crash happened around 8:15 Saturday night at Allen Road and East Southern Road in Kinderhook Township.

Investigators say 19-year-old Jackson Handshoe of Fremont, Indiana was driving a red 1985 Chevy Corvette north on Allen Road just south of East Southern when the car hit a deer.

The impact sent the Corvette off the road and into a nearby ditch.

Handshoe and his passenger, 19-year-old Hailee Ridgway of Coldwater, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Both refused ambulance transport and told responders they would instead be taken privately to Cameron Hospital in Angola.

Branch County deputies were assisted by Lifecare Ambulance, Lakeland Fire, Michigan State Police and VIP Towing.
