(ANGOLA) - Trine University has named Cisco Ortiz as its new dean of student and community relations.

The newly created position makes Ortiz the senior liaison between the university, students, parents and community stakeholders, while also serving as the first point of contact for outside organizations seeking new partnerships with Trine.

University leaders say the role is designed to strengthen student support, improve retention efforts and deepen community relationships.

Ortiz will also add a new layer of retention support focused on student-athletes.

He will continue serving as Trine's Title IX deputy coordinator, faculty athletic representative and leader of the student disciplinary process.

The university says Ortiz will also serve as liaison to campus dining services, helping address student dining needs and special events.

Ortiz has worked in nearly every aspect of Trine life since arriving as a student in 1996 and most recently served as vice president for student affairs.
