(ANGOLA) - Artificial intelligence and autonomous vessel technology will be on display at Pokagon State Park this Friday and Saturday as Trine University and the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane host the third Artificial Intelligence Maritime Maneuver Indiana Collegiate Challenge.
The event, known as AIMM ICC, brings together student teams from Indiana University, Purdue, Purdue Fort Wayne, Notre Dame and Trine.
Each school has developed low-profile vessels guided by artificial intelligence, with teams competing to see which craft can complete the most assigned tasks in the fastest time.
Organizers say the competition is designed to showcase hands-on engineering, AI and maritime systems work while giving students real-world autonomous navigation challenges.
On Friday, area high school students will visit from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for STEM activities and a chance to interact with the collegiate teams.
