(INDIANAPOLIS) - Admission to all Indiana State Parks will be free on Sunday, May 3.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the free day is part of "Welcome Weekend," marking the start of the outdoor recreation season.

Officials say campgrounds and comfort stations are now open, with water service turned on for the season.

The DNR is also offering a 25 percent discount on campground stays Sunday through Wednesday through May 13 using the code SPRING26. Some restrictions apply.

Indiana State Park Inns are also running a spring promotion, offering 25 percent off the best available rate when booking two consecutive nights through May 21.

A variety of activities are planned throughout the weekend, including hikes, scavenger hunts, and other outdoor programs.
