(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana is being highlighted as a national leader in Registered Apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week.

State officials say Indiana ranks first in the nation for active apprentices per capita and fourth overall, with more than 25,000 participants across more than 900 programs.

Leaders say the programs are helping connect Hoosiers with in-demand careers across industries like construction and early childhood education.

The state also ranks among national leaders in veteran participation.

Officials say the growth is being supported in part by a federal grant aimed at expanding apprenticeship opportunities across Indiana.

More information on Registered Apprenticeships is available through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
